Clean your gear before storing

The best way to clean most of your Rightline Gear products is by wiping it down with a damp washcloth and soap. We suggest using a combination of water and a gentle household soap or cleanser. Do not put any Rightline Gear product into the washing or dryer machine. Once your gear is clean, make sure it is completely air dried before storing.

Temperature-neutral areas

Ensure your storage area is temperature neutral as this will prolong the life of your gear. If your gear is stored in a warm to hot area it can get damaged, especially if it is not dried out completely beforehand. Assuring your gear is dry will prevent moisture which can cause mold in your equipment. Before storing your gear for long periods of time, we suggest airing out your gear and letting it get completely dry. This is the best practice for in between uses of your gear as well. When your gear is dry, it is ready to stow away for winter.

Use storage bins

These are great to use in areas like closets, under beds, and on storage racks. Using storage bins helps keep your gear organized as you can label which items are in each bin. If you have a large family, you can keep each member’s items in their own bins making it easier to access their gear when needed. Another idea is sorting items by season and using storage bags to individualize pieces needed for different activities.

Check for issues

A great time to check your gear for potential issues is while cleaning your gear to prepare it for winter storage. Look for tears, stains, or other repairs that need to be addressed before storing your gear. This is an optimal time to make sure your gear is in top shape. We always recommend checking your gear once again when bringing it back out of storage to use again on a trip.
