Rightline Gear Truck Tent and SUV Tent Combo

Have you ever wondered if the Rightline Gear SUV Tent can connect to the rear of the Rightline Gear Truck Tent? If so, you are not alone – we actually get that question quite a bit. We are pleased to report that the answer to the question is YES!

Here is our Mid Size Short Bed Truck Tent, 110765, on a Toyota Tacoma with the SUV Tent attached to its rear.

You can see that the vehicle sleeve of the SUV Tent extends to the cab side of the Truck Tent’s peak. The vehicle sleeve reaches this far on the small Toyota Truck/Truck Tent. On larger Trucks/Truck Tents, the vehicle sleeve will stop at the peak of the Truck Tent or even closer to the rear pole of the Truck Tent.

The SUV Tent seals tightly around the Truck Tent to keep bugs, wind, and rain out. The tailgate of the truck extends into the interior space of the SUV Tent.

Now you can sleep up off the ground in the comfort of your truck bed, but still have tons of room to dress, store your gear, bring along a bunch of kids, etc.

      Hi Tony. Thanks for writing into our blog. The SUV Tent and Truck Tents were not designed to connect to one another, but they do connect together well. In our experience the “seal” around the Truck Tent is the same as that of the SUV Tent around an SUV. If you have any further questions please feel free to give us a call at 888.851.3905.

      Hi Chris. Great question. The (3) orange straps that are used to connect the SUV Tent to the interior are not necessary to use when installing on a Truck Tent. The black sleeve straps are enough to secure the SUV Tent to the Truck Tent and truck. If you have any further questions, please feel free to give us a call at 888.685.GEAR.

    About how much distance is there from truck bed to top of the truck bed tent on Chevy Colorado #110766. I have a 24″ air mattress that I was planning to use if there’s enough height is the reason I’m inquiring.

      Hi Stephen. Thanks for writing into our blog. Awesome to hear you are interested in our Truck Tent! The tallest point of the Truck Tent is about 5′ from the floor of the bed. A 24″ tall air mattress will sit above the bed rails of your Colorado. It would be a tight fit to work with our Truck Tent. Depending on its length, it may interfere with the tent’s door and may not zip closed. For comparison, our Truck Bed Air Mattresses are 7″ tall and sized specifically to fit between truck wheel wells and work with our Truck Tents.     Can the truck bed tent be lifted fully assembled and placed on the ground while using the truck? If yes, are both tents still able to be attached and functional when the truck is away?

      Hi Jeff. Thanks for writing into our blog. The Truck Tent can be removed from the truck fully assembled, but it will not function as a standalone tent since it does not have any stakes or anchors to secure it to the ground. If done carefully it can be re-attached to the truck while still assembled. The SUV Tent is designed to function as a standalone tent when a vehicle is not attached to it.     I am looking for one of your tents for my Chevrolet Avalanche (110890 was your part number). Do you have anything else available since this model is no longer available?

      Hi Jeff. Thanks for writing in. We’re very sorry to report, but we no longer offer a Truck Tent which will fit the Avalanche. Our current design requires the tent to sleeve around the outside of the bed, something we couldn’t accomplish for the Avalanche. We always recommend customers to check eBay or do Google searches for these older tents from time to time. Sometimes they show up.

      Hi Chris. Yes, one of our Full Size Truck Tents will fit your Silverado. If you have a short bed, part number 110750 will be required. If you have a standard bed, part number 110730 is needed.       Hi Eric. I apologize for the confusion. We used to offer a Truck Tent which fit the Avalanche and EXT. The part number 110890 is correct, however this part number has been discontinued for some time. If you are able to find one through a retailer it would be best to jump on it since these tents are quite rare at this point.

      Hi Brenda. The Truck Tent does need to be removed from the truck in order to drive it away. You could try to remove the tent with the poles still installed. With some practice it might be more of an easy on/easy off set up than starting from the very beginning of the set up process.

      Hello Bud. Yes, the SUV Tent will work in conjunction with your GMC. Please note, your GMC will require one of our Full Size Truck Tents. Please confirm your correct bed length when you go to purchase the Truck Tent.

    I was looking for a truck tent that was simply more than just the part that goes over the bed. As your article above says, that area is nice to sleep in, but you need privacy and room to get up and get dressed and what not and some type of extension is needed. This setup looks like it could work well. Do you have instructions for using both together? It seems like there should be instructions, or a video of how best to use these 2 separate tents together. Thank you.

      Hello Jeff. We haven’t written detailed instructions for how to attach the SUV Tent to a Truck Tent, but rest assured the setup guide included with both the SUV Tent and Truck Tent should be enough for you to successfully attach both tents.

      Hello. We are sorry to report, but our Truck Tents do not fit the 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The Ridgeline features a design in which the truck cab and truck bed are attached to one-another. This is unique to the Ridgeline. Our Truck Tents require a space between the truck cab and truck bed in order to fit properly. Our Truck Tent sleeves around the front and sides of the bed, and unfortunately it cannot work on the Ridgeline.

    I have a 2011 Honda Odyssey Touring. I need to know if this Rightline Gear Truck Tent and SUV will work on the van. We are recently retired and really want to go camping but in our van, not a big trailer.

      Hello. The SUV Tent will fit your Honda Odyssey well. The Truck Tents will not fit your van as they are designed for trucks. The tents can ship in a box that is 24″ L x 10″ W x 10″ H. This is roughly the size the tent is when it is packed into its carry bag.
