Rightline Gear Moki Door Step Fit-Check Tips

The Rightline Gear Moki Door Step is an exciting and unique product which offers customers easy access to their car top cargo boxes, soft sided carriers, kayaks, bikes, and anything else being transported on their vehicle’s roof. It features a universal design which can be used with nearly any vehicle on the road.

Under certain circumstances, customers should be using extra caution and discretion when using the Door Step. In an effort to protect customers and their vehicles, we would like to address (2) situations in which customers should take extra care to verify that their vehicle’s door frame will support a person standing on the Door Step:

Moki Door Step Use On Rear Doors

Some vehicles have a rear door and latch design which causes the Door Step to angle upwards at a sharper angle than when used on the front doors. We recommend extra caution and discretion needs to be taken when the angle of the Door Step is greater than 15 degrees from horizontal. Below is an example of the Door Step installed on the rear doors of a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is an example of an angle of 15 degrees from horizontal. When the Door Step is stood on at angles greater than 15 degrees, the force becomes more concentrated at the edge of the rubber bumper.

We are asking that customers take extra time to verify their vehicle will support a person standing on the Door Step when it is at an angle greater than 15 degrees from horizontal. This can be verified by incrementally adding more of one’s body weight onto the Door Step, checking for any chance of damage incrementally, until one’s full body weight is verified to be supported by the Door Step and vehicle. Moki Door Step Use On Narrow Vehicle Door Jams

Some vehicles have a door jam in which the width is narrower than the width of the Door Step. Below is an example of the Door Step installed on a 2015 Mazda CX-5:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As the Door Step is wider than the door jam, the force of a customer standing on the Door Step is concentrated to less surface area of the vehicle.

We are asking that customers take extra time to verify their vehicle will support a person standing on the Door Step when it is wider than the width of their vehicle’s door jam. This can be verified by incrementally adding more of one’s body weight onto the Door Step, checking for any chance of damage incrementally, until one’s full body weight is verified to be supported by the Door Step and vehicle.
